Overview

Enhance Health has developed a patented, clinically validated platform that enables continuous monitoring of liver and kidney health through non-invasive diagnostics and AI-driven trend analysis. Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and liver conditions such as MASLD and hepatic encephalopathy can use the system to detect early signs of metabolic instability and engage their clinical teams before complications escalate.

The Problem: Chronic liver and kidney diseases are among the most serious and costly conditions in modern healthcare, yet they are often managed with a model that is reactive, fragmented, and dangerously intermittent. Millions of patients live with cirrhosis, hepatic encephalopathy, CKD, and rare metabolic disorders like urea cycle disorders (UCDs). These conditions progress quietly between clinic visits, while current care models rely on infrequent, point-in-time testing performed months apart. Most patients with chronic liver or kidney disease see their specialist every three to twelve months. Testing typically happens only at those visits leading to deterioration and unnecessary ER / hospital visits.

The Solution: Enhance Health is developing a patent protected platform for non-invasive monitoring of metabolic and organ health using breath-based diagnostics, biomarker analytics, and AI-driven trend monitoring. The platform’s first capability is a point-of-care breath test that measures ammonia, with clinical data demonstrating strong correlation to blood ammonia levels in patients with urea UCDs and to disease stage in CKD. Building on this foundation, the platform is designed to integrate additional biomarkers, longitudinal trend analysis, and patient engagement tools to support proactive disease management. By enabling regular monitoring in the home and connecting patients with clinical teams through actionable data, Enhance Health aims to reduce emergency events, support earlier intervention, and improve management of complex metabolic diseases.

Market Opportunity: The beachhead market opportunity is UCDs, estimated at about $51M/year in the U.S. However, due to the urgent need, the market adoption rate should be high. Also, market penetration is expected to be rapid as the customer base is readily accessible. The CKD market opportunity is significantly larger, about ~$29B in the U.S. For liver disease, at-risk MASLD and hepatic encephalopathy is where the need for the device is also great. This works out to a ~$18B additional market opportunity.
